The following paragraph forms part of the route revisions to be considered aiming to lower the environmental impact.

(note the wording says cover the cutting - not tunnel)

Maps will be available in a few weeks.

“Burton Green

1.13

We considered a more westerly alignment to address the effects upon properties in close proximity to HS2 at Burton Green. We do not, however, recommend this, as it would bring the route closer to a greater number of other residential properties on the southern edge of the village and significantly closer to residential properties at Balsall Common. However, while we consider the horizontal alignment should remain unaltered, we recommend that it be lowered and covered at the point where it passes through Burton Green in the deep former railway cutting, to provide both noise and visual mitigation. This could be landscaped if desired to provide a new green space for use by the local community. “       OVE ARUP REPORT dated August 2010. Click here

The line from London to Birmingahm drops into a cutting behind Red Lane Poultry Farm. This changes to Retaing Walls until close to the properties where it enters the Cut and Cover tunnel. The tunnel emerges behind the Village Hall where a Retaining Wall to the North and a Cutting to the south take it towards Berkswell.
